This year has gone by so fast, and the holidays are just around the corner! It’s that time of year when you need to start deciding if you are going to renew your lease for the 2016–2017 lease term. During the month of October, your Resident Director and Community Assistant delivered a renewal coupon with a special treat. If you bring your coupon in to the office and renew your lease during the month of November, not only will you lock in your current room and rate, but you will also be entered to win a $50 gift card!
From November 1–23, Tobin Lofts will hold a canned food drive where every item collected will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House. We’ll be accepting canned food items and non-perishable items in the leasing office. For every item donated, you’ll entered into a drawing to win a $100 gift card. So far, we’ve donated over 300 canned and non-perishable items! Way to go, Tobin Lofts residents!
Reminders & Updates
This is a courtesy reminder that smoking cigarettes, as well as having lit cigarettes in units and elevators, is not permitted. Smoking and possessing tobacco pipes and hookas in the unit are also not permitted. This is a safety precaution and a direct violation of your lease. You are ONLY permitted to smoke outside of your apartment in an open air area and outside of the pool area. You are also to dispose of your cigarette butts correctly in one of our urns. If management is made aware of any of these terms being violated, you will be assessed a smoking fee, plus a fine per cigarette butt and tobacco pipe.
If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to call the leasing office at (210) 320-0822, or email our Resident Director at [email protected]
Google yourself. Your future may depend on it.
Whether graduation is on the horizon, or you’re looking for an internship or to take the next step in your career, it’s important you are ready to shine, both online and off. The job and internship search is no longer just about your resume. Your entire online presence is part of your overall brand. According to CareerBuilder’s annual social media recruitment survey, 52% of employers are going online to research candidates. 48% of hiring managers found information online that led them not to hire candidates, including inappropriate photos (46%), information about drinking or drug use (40%), defamatory posts (29%), and even bad-mouthing of a former company or fellow employee (34%).
Here are some tips to look your best when that potential employer hits the search button:
- Research yourself. Log out of your social media accounts and do some searches for yourself on search engines and social media sites.
- Create an attractive and comprehensive LinkedIn profile. LinkedIn has features that allow you to showcase your education, classwork, and projects. According to Forbes, over 97% of employers in a recent survey used LinkedIn for recruiting.
- Get a professional-looking headshot for LinkedIn and other public-facing online profiles.
- Utilize your campus career center!
As a resident of a Campus Advantage community, we want to help you achieve your full potential. Stay tuned for career success events and additional resources, and don’t hesitate to reach out if we can be of support in any way!
