Welcome to Tobin Lofts!

A warm welcome to our new and returning residents here at Tobin Lofts! One of the most exciting and memorable aspects of the college experience is the opportunity to live and learn with other students in a residential setting. We’re pleased you have chosen to join the Tobin Lofts community, and we encourage you to become engaged in our community! We have events every month that are designed with you in mind — be sure to invite your friends, too.

Many students have never lived away from home or shared an apartment before coming to college, so you might be anxious or worried about what the experience will be like. At Tobin Lofts, we’re here to help you adjust as quickly and comfortably as you can. This means establishing ground rules, negotiating different standards of sharing and fairness, and learning to respect others’ priorities and opinions in the apartment. A support network is available to help you get through the transition from home or dorm to an apartment. The best resource that you’ll have is your Community Assistant (CA). As a peer counselor and resource person, they’ll be available to you and your roommates as you negotiate differences and learn how to live together.

We hope you had a magnificent start to the school year, and we’re here to assist you in any way we can to help you reach your educational goals. If there’s anything else you may need regarding maintenance, questions you may have, or general housekeeping, feel free to stop by the office and ask us about it!

Maintenance Tips

Flooring: Take care of your apartment floor. When embedded into rugs and carpets, dirt will wear out the fibers and create stains. On our hardwood floors, place mats on the inside of the door to reduce the amount of dirt that enters the apartment. If possible, vacuum once a week to help keep dirt and dust at a minimum. When mopping, use a very small amount of fluid to clean because saturation damages the wood’s finish and, when soaked, can cause it to warp.

Drains: Avoid pouring oil, coffee grounds, or other solids into the kitchen sink to keep the drains flowing freely. In the bathroom, remove the hair from the sink and the shower when first noticed so they are not washed down the drain. Invest in a plunger to unclog toilets.

When in doubt, leave the work to the pros. Report malfunctioning appliances, broken or missing grout, major damages, or anything questionable in your apartment. You can fill out a service request in the office or online through your resident portal, and it will be completed as soon as possible.

Reminders & Updates

Tobin Lofts wants to remind all of our residents to start the school year off strong by utilizing our 24-hour study lounge, computers, and printer. If you’re having trouble with your cable or Internet, feel free to come down to the office and retrieve Time Warner’s number to contact and discuss technical difficulties.

The Students First™ Passport Program

We want to make sure you know how to make the most of your experience this year while living at our community. Check out the four easy steps below on how to join and participate in our Students First™ Passport Program, which will open the doors to fun events and great rewards for you!

Step 1: Get Your Passport

If you’re a new resident, you should’ve received your Students First™ Passport in the welcome packet materials you received on move-in day. If not or if you’re a returning resident, please stop by the management office today to get yours!

Step 2: Keep It Safe

Write your name on the inside cover of your Students First™ Passport, and keep it in a safe location so you don’t misplace it. If you ever need a replacement, just stop by the management office to get a new one. However, we can’t give you back your lost stamps, so try not to lose it!

Step 3: Attend Community Events

We’re going to have a ton of great events for you this year, so make sure to keep an eye out on social media, flyers, and these monthly newsletters to see what’s coming up. When you come to an event, bring your Students First™ Passport with you to receive a stamp for attending. Some events may even be worth more than one stamp, so definitely check those out!

Step 4: Win Big

Throughout the year, we’ll advertise times when stamps can be redeemed for rewards or prizes. In some cases, stamps could equal raffle tickets in a drawing for an awesome prize, or they could count toward a discount on services. Make sure to keep an eye out for the updated Students First™ Passport posters in the management office and clubhouse to find out what your stamps are worth!

That’s it! Four easy steps to join and use our Students First™ Passport Program this year. We hope you have a great year, and if you have any questions or need anything, please don’t hesitate to let us know. Happy traveling!
